Rice Black Bean Burgers

  • 1 Cup Brown Rice, cooked
  • 1 Raw Walnuts
  • 1/2 Onion, diced
  • 1 TBSP Cumin
  • 1 TBSP Chili Powder
  • 1 TBSP Liquid Smoke
  • 1 Can Black beans, drained/rinsed
  • 1/2 Cup Bread Crumbs
  • 2 TBSP BBQ


  1. Toast walnuts in skillet until fragrant and browned, set aside to cool.

  2. Sauté onions in oiled skillet for 4-5 minutes until onion are translucent. Set aside. Add walnuts too blender with seasonings and liquid smoke. Blended until well blended. 

  3. Mash the black beans with a folk until about 90% mashed. Add in onions, walnut mix, bbq sauce, bread crumbs. Mix well until well incorporated.  

  4. Divid mixture into 5 patties. Shape into patties. Place on parchment paper if you decied to bake. Bake for 15 minutes each side. Patties able to cook on skillet or grill as well. 5-7 minutes each side.

  5. Enjoy hot with favorite toppings and a bun!
