Kung Pow Brussel Sprouts

HELLLO! It is still cold in Chicago! What gives?! It’s super annoying to do anything in this weather. These spicy with a kick, brussel sprouts will give you the spice you’re looking for. Hince the name Kung Pow Brussel Sprouts! They are so good for the average vegan and non vegan alike!

To get you caught up on our lives, I (Veronica) have just been working. Some exciting things are coming up in the future with that. David has been working also, but also has been dealing with some fun stuff with his artist, SoloSam! He recently went on a trip to Austin, Texas for the music festival, South by Southwest. He had a lot of fun, and some awesome vegan food too! Might be a vacation destination for the future!

Did I mention it was cold? LOL. Hoping and waiting so hard for the warmer months to come!

Anyways, when we brought these Kung Pow Brussel Sprouts into work for lunches during the week, we got so many questions, looks, interests because they smell phenomenal!

Things you will need to make Kung Pow Brussel Sprouts:

  • Brussel Sprouts
  • Soy Sauce
  • Hoisin Sauce
  • Sesame Oil
  • Garlic
  • Flour
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Hoisin Sauce
  • Garlic Chili Sauce
  • Green Onions
  • Sliced Almonds
  • Water

First, you an either half the brussel sprouts or leave them whole. I left mine whole. Lather in olive oil, and place in the oven at 375ºF on parchment paper. Roast for 20 minutes.

While they are roasting, sauté the minced garlic in the sesame oil in a pan. Add in flour and mix. Then add soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, hoisin sauce, and garlic chili paste. Add more garlic chili paste if you want a more kick! Cook ingredients until fully incorporated and a light boil.

Kung pao Brussel Sprouts

Toss in a bowl with brussel spouts until fully coated. Place back on parchment paper and continue to roast for 15 more minutes.

Remove from oven. Serve hot! We ate ours with white rice topped with green onions and almond pieces.

Kung Pow Brussel Sprouts

Spice up your day with these feisty brussel sprouts.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Brussel Sprouts
  • 1/2 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 1 TBSP Hoisin Sauce
  • 1 TBSP Sesame Oil
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 TBSP Flour
  • 2 TSP ACV
  • 2 TSP Garlic Chili Paste
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • Green Onions, Sliced Almonds Optional
  • Salt/pepper/EVOO

Instructions

  1. Half the brussel sprouts or leave them whole. Lather in olive oil, and place in the oven at 375ºF on parchment paper. Roast for 20 minutes, or until they are softened throughout.


  2. While they are roasting, sauté the minced garlic in the sesame oil in a pan. Add in flour and mix. Then add water, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, hoisin sauce, and garlic chili paste. Add more garlic chili paste if you want a more kick.

     Cook ingredients until fully incorporated and to a light boil.


  3. Toss in a bowl with brussel spouts until fully coated. Place back on parchment paper and continue to roast for 15 more minutes.

    Remove from oven. Serve hot!
