Simple Snacks for New Vegans!

Eating vegan does result in you being hungry more often. At least that is what we’ve noticed. Here’s some tips that may be helpful for the newer vegan that we learned very quickly.

David and I LIVE off snacks. That’s no joke. We snack through out the workday, weekends, evenings, all the time. No shame in our game! Sometimes it can be difficult to find places to purchase quick “I’m starving all the sudden snacks”. Somethings just slip your mind, including snacks to pack or what could you possibly eat while eating vegan. We plan plan plan, over plan.

We got y’all! We’re pros.

Self-proclaimed, but still.

Often times we’ll find ourselves going straight from work to a happy hour on a whim. Regardless of where we go, we already know If one of us is home, we try to look out for the other. It’s seriously not uncommon for myself, to bring David a veggie burger in my purse!

Some great snacks to keep in mind are finger foods. We lean on a lot of pretzels, chips, popcorn, things like that. Be sure to confirm these items do not include butter, milk, eggs, etc…These things seem super obvious but you just don’t think vegan. People or new vegans things salads, lettuce, veggies, fruits.

Don’t get me wrong fruits and veggies are super great for in between snacks, but maybe not easily assessable. If you do have access, or preplan some snacks can include carrots, cucumbers, grapes, apples & peanut butter, celery (& peanut butter), bananas, mini peppers, and so much more.

David and I meal prep almost 90% of our meals each week. That includes snacks. Him having a bigger appetite it’s very necessary. He likes to have a peanut butter and jelly for a mid afternoon snack. Other days he’ll have a rice pack thing. Which is also super good and simple. We get them at any grocery store, various brands. They are 90 seconds in the microwave and there’s a nice little warm snack!

So a quick review:

  • Veggie Burger
  • Fruits
  • Veggies
  • Hummus
  • Peanut Butter + Whatever (lol)
  • Rice
  • Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich
  • Pretzels
  • Chips
  • Popcorn
  • Nuts
